Challenge
Existing marketplace platforms like Etsy take 12%+ fees and give vendors zero control over branding, customer relationships, or data. Creators need a platform that treats them as merchants of record — not tenants.
Approach
Built a federated architecture where each vendor operates their own storefront with custom theming via PotionKit (a drag-and-drop site builder). Stripe Connect handles payments so vendors are true merchants of record. Implemented anti-slop quality enforcement using AI-assisted listing review.
Outcome
Platform is in active development with early vendor onboarding. The federated model gives vendors 95%+ revenue retention compared to ~85% on Etsy. PotionKit has reduced storefront setup time from days to under 30 minutes.
